The GLP-1 Map Kit includes two sample collections: one for microbiome testing and one for blood testing. Follow the step-by-step instructions below for each collection.
Microbiome sample collection
Prepare: When you are ready, place the provided toilet seat cover over the toilet. (For babies, you can collect the sample directly from a clean diaper).
Collect: After your sample is deposited on the cover, put on your safety gloves and open the collection tube. Use the scoop attached to the lid to collect the sample.
Fill: Transfer the sample into the tube until it reaches the fill line.
Clean & Seal: Flush the cover down the toilet. Use the provided wipes to clean the outside of the tube, then close the lid tightly.
Storage: Place the tube back into the biohazard bag and put it in the freezer immediately.
Log: Open the Dayhoff app and log the exact date and time of your collection.
You will repeat this process for a total of three samples. To get the most accurate insights into your microbiome, collect these one at a time throughout the span of one week.
Once all three samples have been collected, you're ready to return your kit.
Freeze: Make sure all three samples have been in the freezer overnight.
Pack: Place all three samples, the ice pack, and the absorbent pads in the biohazard bag, then seal it. Place the sealed biohazard bag in the silver bag that came with your kit and seal that bag. Put everything in the kit box and close it.
Ship: Place the kit box in the provided return shipping bag. The prepaid return label is already attached. Drop off the package at your local UPS location.
For the highest data accuracy, we recommend mailing your sample within 24 hours of the last collection. Freeze your last sample overnight and then return your kit to UPS the next day. However, if you aren’t able to return it the next day, we recommend waiting no more than 3-5 days after your last sample collection.
Since prompt shipping is best, we recommend avoiding shipping over the weekend or on holidays.
Before beginning, be sure to wear short sleeves and have your phone or another device ready to use as a timer.
For the most accurate results, test in the morning after fasting for 6–8 hours.
Make sure you have the following supplies:
Tasso collection device
Alcohol wipe
Bandage
Foil pouch
Return bag and box
Collecting your blood sample
Warm your arm and prep the area: Rub your upper arm for approximately 30 seconds, or until it feels warm. Use the alcohol wipe to clean the collection area on your upper arm.
Prepare and apply the device: Open the pouch and remove the Tasso device. Remove the button cover and the paper backing from the adhesive. Place the device firmly on your upper arm with the sample pod pointing downward.
Begin collection: Press the button quickly and firmly until it cannot go any farther. Hold it for two seconds, then release.
Collection: Start your 5 minute timer. Blood may take up to one minute to appear. The indicator dots will begin filling from the top.
If you don’t see any changes after 1-2 minutes, see “If you don’t see blood collecting” below for what to do next.
Remove the device: If all four dots fill and you can see blood at the bottom of the sample pod, stop the timer and gently peel the device from your arm. This should complete within your 5 minute timer, though it may take slightly longer. Ideally most, if not all, dots are filled before removal.
Apply the bandage: Place the provided bandage over the collection area.
Package the sample: Remove the clear film from the sample pod. Place the entire device inside the foil pouch, then place the pouch inside the return box.
Label and seal: Write the current date and time on the flap, then seal the package.
Return the sample: Ship or return the blood sample on the same day it is collected, following the return instructions provided with your kit.
If you don’t see blood collecting
Blood collection can vary from person to person. Some people may see blood appear quickly; for others, it may take longer. Blood may take up to 1-2 minutes to appear in the sample pod.
If you see no change after one minute, press or tap the button again with more pressure to make sure it is fully activated. Keep the device in place and follow the collection timing above. If blood still does not appear, you can try pressing the button firmly once more and holding it down.
Do not remove it and apply it to another part of your body. The device is single use.
If you’re still unable to collect a sample, contact the Tasso helpline using the information provided with your kit. Have the device’s reference and lot numbers ready.
